Hello Packages, Parsers, and Programs,

Today marks PHP’s 31st birthday, which makes it as old as JavaScript.

It originally stood for Personal Home Page.

But it led to so many insecure web apps that it might have stood for,

Pretty Horrible Programs,

Painfully Hobbled Preferences,

Or Prolific Hacking Potential,

Before becoming a Passably Hardened Platform.

With that kind of history, it’s a good thing JavaScript never became a server-side language.
